The Hunt for the Missing Dad n' Me CD

Posted by Crawdad - 6 days ago

WANTED!

iu_1353571_8900462.jpg

Have you seen this CD?

Reward: 100,000,000 Fulp Dollars

I found a mysterious image of this CD alongside another physical version of Watermelon, (Dan Paladin's 2006 album) while trying to find screenshots from Synj.net before it was shut down via the Wayback machine, in which I stumbled across a mysterious stack of Dad n' Me soundtrack/(possibly console ports?) discs. It didn't cross my mind when I initially discovered it how obscure and interesting this piece of physical media really is. I wanna take it upon myself to locate the whereabouts of these CD's any way I possibly can. If any original and active newgrounds users know where to start, I'd be happy to take a lead on locating the whereabouts of this eyebrow-raiser of lost media.

Possible Leads/Starting Points

  • Direct Messaging Dan Paladin
  • Contacting Dustball, The composer for Dad n' Me (assuming the disc contains the music from the game)

I'm determined to find out what happened or where these CD's lie today, and if anyone else who's curious wants to join me, I'd be happy to accept your help.

I've been Crawdad, and goodnight.

I was tempted to just assume it was a fake, however it could be something like the Eddsworld DVD that only a few people have.

I have a hard time believing it's fake because I found it on a recovered version of Synj.net, Dan Paladin's old blog where he'd post life updates as well as game development tips. I dont quite remember the context of the image being shown, but I will try to locate the screenshot again via the Wayback machine.

@Crawdad Acording to the Metadata that the image has it's from June 5th, 2006 at 1:16PM. I'm not sure how much that helps, but it narrows down when it was made.

I appreciate you making an effort to help. I didn't think anyone would be very interested! I did Dm Dan, but like his bio says, he can't respond to every message, so I'll have to try reaching him on twitter or something. I know he's at least active on there.

UPDATE: I have found the page containing the information about the CD using the Wayback machine on Synj.net on July 2nd of 2006. It reads that the CDs were intended to be a faster running version of Dad n' Me for PC's and we're originally meant to be handed out at Comic-Con, but was canceled short notice. I'm in the process of trying to get into contact with Dan about the whereabouts of the CD's if he is aware.
